I adopted a blue pit bull mix about two years ago, we estimate he is about 4-5 years old. He was perfectly healthy when we got him. He had all his paperwork on his up to date shots but we had him seen by the vet anyway, he was healthy as can be. Very active and playful with a healthy appetite. For about the past 2 months he has been getting sick. At first it was about every 2 weeks but it progressed over time and it seems to be just about every other day now. Symptoms are; he starts off swallowing weird (almost like he has a hair stuck in his throat). He constantly swallows for about 2 minutes during this his breathing strained as if trying to catch his breath. He then starts hacking and in between the hacking he continues the weird swallowing. He cries and whines in between all off this. That goes on for about another 3 minutes until he starts heaving and the proceeds to vomit. The vomit is not solid and rarely contains any food. His puke is a somewhat thick white liquid that looks like spit. After this (roughly 10 minute) period he is a bit fatigued and shookin' up. Usually before he throws up he whines at the door until we let him outside where he runs straight to the grass and starts eating grass and leaves until he throws up.He seems fine and perfectly healthy whenever this process is not present. At first i thought maybe he was just a little sick but it has become so frequent that im becoming very concerned about his health. We have no money to take him in and run a bunch of tests to "attempt" to find out what is wrong. Any advice, insight or answers are GREATLY appreciated. Thank You.
