I really need someone to calm me down. I love SDN so much and all of you, please if anyone could tell me anything to make me feel better that would be so great.

Okay, so I already had my first interview at LECOM-Erie. I did great, I love interviews - I am always myself and very personable. When we got there the man giving presentations said, "You are here today because you made it past the numbers, now we want to get to know you as a person."

Ok sweet! Well, in the interview they briefly mentioned my MCAT score. They asked, "What do you think of how you did?" I didn't do well my first time, and I retook it this August and am awaiting the scores tonight/tomorrow. So, I told them that it was my fault for doing how I did, but I tried my best and retook it.

They were not aware of this, even though I checked it on my application! But, they were like, "Oh, alright great." and they dropped the subject and moved on to the rest of the interview.

I was so happy that I answered everything well and I was feeling fairly confident about a possible acceptance. Well, today I got an email from the Admissions Coordinator that they are now having my application pending for my new MCAT scores. I was completely mortified!

My problem is that now I think I blew it by telling them I retook it. Maybe if I did not tell them that I retook it they would have just accepted me... or maybe just flat out rejected me. I am wondering if other people from this interview who retook the MCAT in August got the same email. It wasn't very personal and it seemed (by the @3454$% kind of writing among some of the email) that it was an automatic email. Do you think they have to wait? Or maybe it is a formality to wait?

I am freaking out you guys and need help. Does this mean I will be rejected? I did so well and I thought they said that I made it past their admissions standards for my numbers (GPA and such). I am honestly scared and my parents couldn't help so I came here.

Any advice or thoughts? Sorry for the long post but I am so nervous that my score might go down or something like that.

Please help if you could. Thank you.

The first obvious question is

Do you think you did better this time?

I'm thinking that by the way you described the email that it is auto-generated. They probably have a system that generates the email anytime something on your AMCAS report changes. Even if they are holding your application for review pending your new score, as long as it isn't lower, I think you're golden. Take a few deep breaths, remember how good your interview went, and try to destress. You're a good person, and gosh darnit, people like you. 🙂

Yes, I do. But now, obviously I am reanalyzing that though heh. Thanks for your comment and yours too, LittleLateMD! Much love.

Yeah, I bet this email is something they send to everyone who has retaken or changed their app. I wouldn't worry about it, especially since you already made it past the numbers part, as they said. Just be calm and think about how great the interview went.

Isn't it only a day or so 'til scores come out?

I'm sure you'll be fine. Don't fret! Automated emails suck, you don't.

I love you guys, thanks!

Haha, I keep refreshing every few mins to see if anyone posted here. Thank you so much for being there!

So how did you like LECOM? I just decided not to send in the secondary as I think the tuition is just too much. I am wondering if I should send it in anyway.

Hey wait, is this 25,000 for both in-state and out-of-state students?

Honestly, I loved it. I go to a big campus, and this is SMALL. But I think I need the change, to focus now. Just send it, it is $50, not to bad. Cost of living there isn't bad either. Yeah in state this year is $25K and out of state is $26K. Not bad.

Please consider it. PM me anytime for info on this school/interview!

Yeah, and it is about 2 hours from my hubby...much better than 4. Hmm....maybe I will send that baby off. I really haven't read anything about it or anything. They are having that Open House on the 29th, maybe I'll go to that. Do you know anything about their average board scores, pass rates, anything like that?

Thanks for the help!

I hope chatting about LECOM isn't just making you more nervous about it...if so, just ignore me, I won't be offended!

No biggie, people change their minds about taking the test all the time. So you decided after you sent out your app that you'd retake it, heh?

I offically screwed my life over. I did one point worse. I did better in writing (O to an R) but what does that matter. I am awaiting a rejection now. This blows.

Oh come on, don't be so damn optimistic! One point may be the equivalent of one question on the MCAT. Seriously, don't you think that they would look beyond that and more at you as a person. They did interview you with the old MCAT right??! im sure youll be fine

You intervioewed very early in the cycle, so that means that they like you and are fine with your MCAT score, so don't stress it. Besides, they usually take your best score anyway.

I wish they would look at me as a person instead of that one point. I tried. As dumb as I might sound for not doing well on this test, I gave what I had.

Sometimes I look around at situations happening around the world, like this past earthquake in Pakistan. I think to myself, "I want to be there, I need to be there to help." It is my passion. But this damn test has my dreams all tied in knots... Keeping me from what I know I want to do.

I hope that this school takes me, but I am not going to be too optimistic. Whatever happens, I know was meant for a reason. Damn, this sucks...

It's only one point lower. There's still hope. Best of luck :luck: .

I PMed you. 🙂

what is your actual score Jezz....if you dont mind me asking...i seriously do NOT think you are as screwed as you think you are...so keep your chin up..and dont give up hope

Don't panic Jezzielin...from earlier posts, i think i remember that you had an interview at LECOM. Maybe you would think about writing them a letter of intent/interest. Your chances are much better than you think. I have a close friend who got into Lecom with a 20mcat/3.1 gpa. Keep your head up.

Christine

Thanks everyone for helping me. I am really depressed about this and worried.

I am thinking I will send the LOIs out today/tomorrow... I believe I am the one that has to release the scores to them. So I will have to do that too.

The more I think about this school, the more I want to go there. Ugh.

i think they wait for the scores as a formality. i had an interview at WVSOM on 8/29 and didn't hear from them until 2 weeks ago because they did not have a simple LOR in their hands; as soon as they had the LOR, they gave me the acceptance. From your description of the interview, it seems like they were more interested in you than the score, so don't give up hope!
