Hello Pre Pharmacy students,

I am a Pre-Pharmacy Student as well in my junior year at University of Michigan in Dearborn. I have an overall GPA of 3.5, Math 3.77 and Science GPA (excluding math) of 3.3. I have some problems with my science classes, i always start strong getting A in my first exams and than i slack off as class goes on and i end up with a B+. This has happened almost every single time. Every new semester i say i will study systematically but i don't have the will to do it. I finally realized that this progress should be made gradually and i cant change my study habit at once. I would like any advice on how to achieve this goal.

Thank You

uhh... your gpa is more than sufficient for pharmacy school... don't stress so much on your gpa... your gpa is only one area that school's look at... make sure you get a good pcat score to go along w/ that gpa and also have lots of extracurricular and leadership experience.

I am not so sure about that, here in Michigan the average GPA of students getting accepted for Ferris State is 3.75 and for Wayne State is 3.69 .

Just make sure this gradual change in study habits occurs before you go to pharmacy school. It will bite you bad if you don't fix the problem now. But your gpa is not out of the question for acceptance if you have other outstanding attributes such as extracurriculars, community service, pharmacy experience, and most of all, great recommendations.

I think you need to have a motivation to get an A in your class. For me I tell myself I cannot afford a B in any class because I am competing with students that have a 3.9 GPA and are applying to pharmacy school. Every since I have been doing this I have studied my butt off for my exams and I have only gotten 1 B in the last two years. Hope this helps!

Motivation will help. Also, are you asking for advice on how to study systematically? If so, you just have to find what works for you. It sounds like you're doing well at first, so figure out what it is that is working for you at the start of the course and continue with that until the end. It sounds like it's a motivation problem though; the last poster gave some great advice on that already. Also, I always consider that it is just going to be for a few more years--I'm not sure exactly where you're at in your pre-pharm, but say even if its five more years for you (until you graduate from pharmacy school). I know that sounds like a long time, but believe me, it will fly by before you know it. So just sacrifice now so that you can have a better future; at least, that's how I think of it.

You clearly have a mild case of ADD. Whatever you do, don't take Adderall. Diet and exercise has been shown to improve concentration and unlike the synthetics will not damage your brain.
