Hi,
I hope someone out there in San Diego can help me out with one of the prerequisites for USC. I am talking about Biochemistry. I have gone to the USC equivalence course website and it isn't listed but I am thinking that maybe it isn't updated. Has anyone in San Diego taken Chem 160 (Intro to Biochem) at San Diego Mesa College as a prereq for USC and got an Ok from the school. Will that work or do I have to take it somewhere else like at a University and if so, where? Please help. I am desperate because I need to know where to take this class in the fall. I would call them but it is the weekend and they are closed. I appreciate anyone that can help me out. Thank you.

In case no one answers you I'll give you my opinion. If the prereq you are trying to satisfy is Biochem, then 20 bucks says the class you took won't cover it. I'm pretty sure you need to take an actual Biochem class, not an introductory one. To answer your other question, this class can be taken at your cc (if they offer it) cause it doesn't have to be done at a university.

Chem 160 seems like a lower level class, so i would agree with Drug Doc that you should probably find a class that is actually listed as Biochemistry, not introduction to biochemistry.

Thanks for answering. The Biochem class at Mesa (Bio 160) actually would work for Western Prerequisite. That is why I was thinking maybe USC would take it. I will email them and see. Thanks for your input.

Biochem and Molecular Bio are upper-div science courses. You could take it at SDSU or UCSD. You could try and attempt to send a copy of the syllabus and have the admissions coordinator evaluate it. She can determine if the CC course is considered equivalent to a university level biochem/molecular bio class.

you can go to ucsd and take BIBC 102 or BIBC 100 which are metabolic biochem and structural biochem respectfully~
