Please help!! Should I take the MCAT again

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
To give me an idea....what state are you from??

Ta da!

The Official "Should I Retake?" Thread

Unfortunately your MCAT isn't the problem. Since you took first year med school courses I'm assuming you did an SMP? With a GPA of 3.46 over those courses, I'm actually sorry to say you've probably dealt a lethal blow to your chances. Schools will have very little reason left, if any, to believe you can excel academically at the medical school level.

Cali!!!! Good Luck!!!🙄

But on a serious note, you had better re-take that and make sure it is in the 40s...and apply everywhere......

According to the msar, schools that favor you statically are
- Albany medical college
- New york Medical College

I will post the rest when I get back from the bathroom..

Edit

Umm..I kinda lost my msar and I think I will just pm you.

Neither part of that is realistic or practical...

Did you even read the OP?

It's funny to me that you responded to this thread only to give criticize my response and not to give any advice or input of your own to the OP. Fantastic Contribution.👍
But my response was a blurb, I completely misread her post.

To Motes. No I do not think that you should retake the MCAT because that isn't the problem. I believe that you have the average MCAT score for most matriculants. Your GPA's for undegrad and grad just are relatively low and do not speak kindly to your ability to handle a rigorous curriculum that med students are expected to carry. While there may be some truth to the GPA forgiveness for a good MCAT, I think in your case a 40+ MCAT won't help you out significantly.

Med school adcoms are pretty good at selecting students who will do well in their schools. If 60 schools are of the opinion that you will not do well as a physician, then you probably aren't fit to be a physician.

That's because, unlike most of pre-allo, I don't respond to threads that I feel I'm not qualified to give advice in. I'm not about to tell this person to retake the MCAT, reapply, give up, etc. when I've never even done any of it myself.

This thread should be in WAMC anyway, where people who actually know what they're talking about post.

Hmm... But still telling the OP to move her thread to WAMC would have been solid advice. And an actual contribution to this thread.
