Okay, of course i know what a employment resume is but what type of resume would a science prof. be looking for? Recently one of my science professors agreed to write a letter of rec. for me. She told me that she would need a copy of my personal statement and a resume. What type of things do you put in a resume? or is it just an employment resume?

thanks for your help

When my professors asked for one I gave them the same resume I used to apply for jobs.

Just an employment resume, but since you are using it for science academia, you should focus more on science (research) experience as well as university societies experience. Obviously you will have to include the education section as well, but you can include what academic awards you have, any research experience in the science field, volunteer in hospital/dental setting, leadership in school clubs, personal activities/interests. About a 2 page resume for this situation should be ideal.

^^^ what he said.

my resume has sections for Academics (gpa, awards/honors, perhaps dat score if you have it), Employment, Extracurricular Activities, Community Activities. you could also throw in a section for research if you have any.

Throw in a personal statement if you done it already too. That way you can kill two birds with one stone. Some one to edit your personal statement, give you thoughts on the personal statement. Two your going to get a letter of rec from this person. The key to writing a personal statement is to show and bridge a personal connection with your reader, thus allowing them to see who you trully are.

Good luck
