I am new to this forum
and I am posting here because I need to get help.

I was taking two courses at my community college, along with my regular 4 year university. But in one of the courses, I couldn't show up for an exam due to medical reason, but the professor insists that there's no makeup exam as it is outlined in the course syllabus and advised me to appeal for late course withdrawal. So I applied for late course withdrawal, but it got denied and the course grade came as F.

What can I do? This will affect my GPA severely and might ruin my career dream. I am really devastated and I don't know what to do.

Is it possible not to show these community courses on the application at all when I apply to dental school? I was taking these courses (Math classes) as extra and I don't need them for any kind of credit.

But if I don't submit these community courses, and later aadas finds out that I took these community courses, what would happen?
I am really worried.

Yea AADSAS asks for all your transcripts and all your coursework..from every school you attended...pretty sure you'd be in deep trouble if you didn't include it..sorry and good luck!

That is a tough situation. I think they require you write in any college credits you have earned so far. Sure, AADSAS probably wouldn't find out, or maybe you could play the ignorance card (Oh, bc I didn't need the CC courses, I didn't know I had to include them etc) but that is VERY risky, I would think. I thought if you had a doctors note, they had to provide an alternative. I don't know any school that could fail you if you had to get a kidney transplant or something. Up to that point, were you doing well in the class? Did you have a medical note? If not, I can understand the professor doing this, even though it is harsh. How does he/she know you just weren't prepared enough yet? In any case, I would fight it HARD, or try to get an incomplete if you cant do a late withdrawl. Maybe then you can finish up next semester. Don't worry, they won't check. Just submit your university transcript and you'll be fine. Be thankful you didn't get the F in your university courses.

I was sick during the exam time and do have doctor's note but the professor told me to apply for late course withdrawal with that note. But it got denied. I am really devastated.

The professor is a strict person and kind of cold person you could say.
I really doubt he would give me incomplete or other options.

I got an A in the other course and and in this course, I was getting A on the previous exam.

Some people here tell me it's risky and moitstener says it will be fine.
I do have very solid grades in my university.

I am really lost and confused.

On the AADSAS transcript instructions... "List all undergraduate, graduate and professional institutions you have attended or plan to attend through the completion of Summer 2007. Enter all colleges and universities you attended EVEN IF THE COURSES are not required for admission to dental school or if they transferred to another institution. Include non-degree programs. "

AADSAS makes it pretty clear that you will need to include those transcripts. However, you will have the opportunity in your application to explain any academic failures.

You are taking a risk by purposely leaving out a transcript. I do not believe that one F, with a valid explanation, will keep you from getting in...

Even if you took it elsewhere it will probably still appear somewhere on your primary university transcript that you attempted some extra course credits outside that school.

I'd include it. But fight it hard first.

an F isn't the end of the world...but how you deal with it could hurt your application. Just take the class over and the F won't matter.
