I went to their website and I know their stats of acceptance, but I was wondering I can get some info from personal experiences etc. on topics like
Campus (location--living costs)
faculty/staff
sim lab?? technology?
and overall experience

I think I have a general idea about their location and and living costs----expensive since its is SF. I read that Uop doesnt really have a campus--just 1 building, how about UCSF?

How is the faculty there? Are they able to provide good attention to students? Good lectures etc?

Over all how is the student experience? Very stressful or Normal stressful? I understand it is dental school and I am absolutely prepared to take the stress and give my 200% but still some schools have a reputation of being a lot more competitive an stressful than others.

I am just trying to get a feel about some of the schools I am very interested in.

Thank you in advance 🙂

Expensive...I think someone told me a 2 bedroom (3 live in it) was for 2700. The city is nice, it's all fancy and what not. I realize I didn't give you the exact info you wanted.

We are in a two bedromm 700 sf apartment with a shuttle every 15 min to the school. Costs $1700 and includes one parking space They have new one bedroom apartments coming online this sept at 1390 in the same complex. We start Sept 14th so I can't tell you much more.

We have a campus. We have several campuses. Two are almost strictly medical hospitals and whatnot, while 2 are more broad. The Parnassus campus is the main campus, and it's located on one street. The immediate vicinity is kinda dry, because it's mostly residential, but as a result it's very safe and quiet.

Some things in SF are expensive, while others are cheap. Housing is expensive. Parking is expensive. Food is cheap. Groceries are dirt cheap, with the abundance of local farmer's markets.

We have no sim lab that I know of, and we don't need one. We use our eye and good judgment.

First year began lax, and it got increasing more time consuming (not increasingly difficult, just more work) with each passing quarter. Second year was the most chill, and you have too much time to do other things. If you want to pick up a hobby, this would be the year to do it. Thereafter, it's nonstop clinic work. Overall, UCSF teaches you what you need to do, without being overbearing. They give you room to grow, without forcing upon you the mental challenge and frustration of the typical dental school schedule and lifestyle. It's not nine to five at school, eat dinner, study, go to bed, sleep, repeat. It's more dental school with a college life slant. I've experienced very little stress here (with exception of the very strict critiquing by professors of your work).

Some professors are strict, some are nurturing. The ones that are strict try their best to force you to learn and do good work. That's the best environment to be in, but you have to be prepared to let your ego go. It's absolutely evident to me that our professors care deeply about their students. At social functions, these strict professors turn into the warmest, most friendly beings ever.

I have no regrets coming here. My piece of mind thanks me for it. I've even turned down the nortorious Ivy's. I got into all three.
