my gpa is not great at all.. 3.3 (****ty, i know!!)
my mcat score: 1st time is 27O, 2nd time is 28P (FML!!).. i literally just got the score back this morning =(
the question is should i try to take it AGAIN in a month or 2, because i really want to apply this summer!!! is june or july a better time to take this test and be able to apply in decent time?
should I even take it again? will it make any difference?

My Extracurricular activities are:
1. one year volunteer at hospital
2. 1 year publicity in club/2 years as active member
3. 1 year internship for associated student body in college
4. I joined recreational swimming during college for 2 years (we dont really compete or anything, just come together and swim/practice)
5. I ran the La marathon once last year
6. volunteered 3 years for research and still working on a publication
7. have been for a year/still working as an ER scribe/following ER doc and learning lots of interesting things
8. i have worked various jobs (restaurant server, tutor, swim coach, medical front office receptionist, and currently ER scribe)
9. I could get two very very good letters of rec from my research doctor and a doctor at work.. the other ones from my prof will be so so and not as personal.

will you improve drastically on the mcat if you take it again in 2 months?

With a GPA of 3.3, you'd need an MCAT score of about 34 to be competitive at allopathic med schools, unless you could spend a year or two getting your GPA higher (in which case the MCAT score needn't be so high). You are already competitive with your current stats at osteopathic med schools. Your ECs look fine for either.

Have you considered applying to DO schools? Your stats look to be fairly competitive for most DO schools. MD schools are definitely a longer shot with your stats but not totally impossible. I would suggest applying to both MD and DO schools, you never know unless you try. Unless you feel confident in raising your score or are mega determined to go to an MD school, then I personally wouldn't plan on taking the MCAT beast again.
