Hi ******,

I agree with your thoughts completely regarding posting in the right forum, however the thread I started called "3rd Year Transfers" was discussing issues directly related to medical education as medical students. I was asking for the thoughts about transferring during the third year of MEDICAL SCHOOL, so I believe that would follow the criteria of being in this forum. If not, then please correct me 🙂 I'd prefer the thread to be kept in the allopathic forum because I would guess that Pre-Med students wouldn't have as much insight towards this topic.

I tend to agree with g2ok. He did not deserve the mini-lashing that he got. I thing of preallo as a forum where premeds can discuss issues related to getting into medical school. Once you are in, I think that the Allo forum is an appropriate forum to discuss issues relevant to current medical students.

I am not sure how a premed is going to know reliably much about transferring during medical school

yeah, the pre allopathic users dont know when are they gonna be accepted to x or y school, why should they know when is that school interviewing for advance standing spots!!

I didn't mean it as a "mini-lashing," that's just the way I write sometimes. Sorry if you felt like your pants were pulled down in front of the class.

The names given to each of the forums has more to do with the topics discussed rather than the members who tend to linger about. Thus we try to reserve the Pre-Allopathic Forum for all questions regarding med school admissions, and this includes transfer admissions.

Trust me when I say the argument has been made in the past that threads regarding MS3 transfers belonged in the Allopathic forum, but this does not necessarily generate more responses. The current med students who will respond to such questions will typically answer such questions no matter where such a posting may be -- even if it were The Lounge (if you could ever find anything there).

Vomer here and I have to admit that I feel much the same as g2ok--I don't think that the preallo group is going to help me as much as the allo group. In addition, I am a medical student and this is a relevant and appropriate post to be placed among that community of readers--if you can please return my post to the allopathic group, you would have my sincere thanks.

I agree also. 3rd year Med school transfers belong in the allopathic forum. Pre-meds have not even got into medical school yet, let alone know about how to transfer between the medical schools.

People aleady in Med school might know more about this topic as they may have seen and talked to people who transfered into or out of their medical school.

It's a post about an issue that a premed can't have, transfering after having completed 2 years of allo. It seems like this would be the appropriate forum.

Your fearless moderator can take a hint when policy must be reviewed and changed by the people.

Heretofore all questions regarding transfer admission (from one LCME med school to another or from an AOA med school to another) will be allowed to fester within the digital boundaries of the Allopathic Forum. Questions regarding transfer admission from Island/Foreign MD schools to LCME schools, however, will continue to be moved to the Pre-Allopathic Forum.

Thank you all for allowing the wheels of justice and democracy to continue turning.
