Hello everyone...

First i really want to thank who ever takes their time to read this... And i know is long but stay with me and please give me your opinions.
I have all my plans set up but the big concer of finishing my BA is bother me... so instead of just posting a thread every 30 minutes am going to go all on 😀
I am 20 years old and currently on my freshman year after transferring from a College and have done all my electives and undergrad stuff except my Pre-Quesites for dental (some have been done). I have completed cal 1 and 2 and gen gem 1... I have a cGPA of 3.5 and a sGPA of 3.8.. now i havent completed that many s classes therefore that is just what i have.
I will lay out my plans for the next year and ask my soo waited question...
Oh i forgot to mention i am a chemistry major and psychology minor

Spring 2011
Physics with Cal 1 $ LAb
Gen Chem 2 & Lab
Social psychology

Summer 2011
Physics with cal 2 & Lab
Biology 1 & Lab
2 Psychology classes (i need 5)

Fall 2011
Organic 1 & Lab
Bio 2 & Lab
Physiology

Spring 2012 Here is the deal!
Organic 2 & Lab
Genetics
ANd prepared for DAT

Now here is the issue... can i take the DAT any time before June 1st and after the spring semester is over due to the fact that i need OChem 2 correct? do they offer DAT in may? sorry for my ignorance
Now, do i have a chance of getting interviewed after completing this and not any of my BA upper level science classes... I understand it is necessary to finish a BA/Bs to be competitive but will it be okay for a dental school to accept me with this and wait for me to finish the BA... or is this just my dream lol?
I am sorry to have this long thread but it will really be appreciated to read what you guys have to say... Do i have a chance without completing my BA even though i will for the remaining of my college semester supposing i get accepted for the 2013 cycle?

Thank you so much for all your help!

if you're only a freshman, you will need to wait until the year before you are going to earn your undergrad degree to apply to dental school. for example, if you are planning to earn your degree in may/june of 2014, you would begin your application in june of 2013 assuming you want to go straight from undergrad. you can definitely take the DAT once you have finished all of the courses that prepare you for it, but you can't apply immediately and then just wait a couple more years before you start. most schools don't do acceptance deferrals.

if your school has pre-health professions advising of any kind, i would suggest going and talking to them. even if they are geared mostly towards pre-med advising, they will be able to help a lot in terms of planning a reasonable courseload and such since many of the prereqs are the same for pre-med and pre-dent.

thank you so much for your advice... i will definitely will go see a counselor on my school regarding my planning... But you see 2012 would be the year before i get my undergraduate degree. I would graduate summer of 2013.. I am not a freshman literally... i have completed up to cal 2 and all my other social sciences... humanities... etc. After completing organic 2 spring 2012 all i have left are my upper division chemistry courses that will be done a year after spring 2012 😕

Take your DAT the summer you about to apply. I took DAT in May and applied in June. You will apply the the summer of your coming last year. Aka. that summer you complete everything then you go back to school one more year to complete your BA/BS. During your last year in school, you will be interviewed. Even after you get accepted, they will watch your application and see if you completely your BA/BS or not.
Some people take the route of completely BS then applying. While they applying, they do internship or shadowing for full year at a clinic.

You should rethink your summer 2011 schedule. Two science classes with labs and 2 psychology courses = a quick way to mess up your GPA! I took Physics I & II over the 2010 summer. It wasn't unmanageable, but it was very fast paced. I was in lab from 9-12, lecture 12:40-3:30 M-Th. Lab reports due each day that took about 1.5 hours to write up. Tests every Monday and Wednesday. The most important thing you can do is maintain a high GPA.

I agree. Whatever you do don't over take too many courses and screw up your GPA. I know too many predent/prepharm/premed students who were overachievers and screwed up their GPAs by taking too many courses at once.
