Is it normal to claim hours you haven't completed when you submit your app but are sure you will? For example, if I'm volunteering in a dental clinic 50 hours this semester and am already accepted to do it my fall semester as well, is it normal to claim 100 volunteering hours? Or would only 50 be fair? I figure I you know for fact you'll get the hours and have them done before matriculation it's fine but I'd like to know what you guys think.

"Is it normal" to lie?

Well that's what I'm asking. Not really lying, but wondering of they are asking how many hours you'll have once you matriculated, which is what matters, instead of how many at time of app. But if people normally answer how many at time at app, I understand. I guess I just see adifferencr between hours you are already scheduled to fulfil in the future and just claiming you'll find a way to get them.

I think you'd just have to use your best judgement for this. If you have 50 hours of shadowing and you submit your app, but you're going to shadow 10 more hours the next week so you put 60 down? I wouldn't hold that against you. However, if you add an additional 100% of your hours for planned work for months later? I'd be wary of doing that.
