What is always desireable is that you find a spot at a program which happens to have a cardiology fellowship - in other words you dont' want to be doing research at a place where there is no fellowship (this is based on advice from my sister - she did do reserach and finally matched last year).
KEEP IN MIND - there are programs which have a fellowship and offer research BUT - don't have a good record of giving fellowships to those who are doing research.
And I asked her before posting this - MAKE SURE you don't get used....
