hello...i have been stuck on this decision for quiet a while now...i cant decide if i wanna to take the 7 week course or 14 week course for kaplan... im not that bright of a student like many of you here so i feel the need to take kaplan. im not worried about the expense for the course. If anyone who has taken either of the course...can you please describe the layout of the course...
the pace of the courses?
do you get eneough time to review for it during the course?
how long of a time..do you think i will need to review after i finish the course?
how helpful was the course for your USMLE...did it help you and would you recommend it another student?

if anyone has any other suggestion...please....i can use all the advice out there.

thank you

Do you have 14 weeks available between 2nd and 3rd year??? That's over a quarter of an entire year of your life. I'd lose my mind if I studied that long.

im not worried about the time lost....but im wanna make sure..i get a good score in my exam....i dont want to pass it borderline and get stuck with it....i study in poland..its pretty crappy school...and im stuck here....so i wanna learn more than what im taught here....my school is ending in may..im passing all my classes..buy def not enough to pass the boards..so i will need way more time to prepare myself than most of you out there.

If money is no object, take the longer course. From what has been seen in the past, which may no longer be true, is that the longer version of the course is divided into two parts: the first "pass" of the course is the essence of what you'd need. The second "pass" is a review of what you've just seen and may help you solidify the information.

It's not that you are "not bright" enough. If you take that stance, you're going to have a lot of problems when you interview. Most of the problem is that you have not seen Medicine the way American grads have, and you need to become familiar with that test-taking format. Which is why you need more than a weekend to pull off these tests.

Taking a review course in a formal setting will force you to study daily. But you need to apply yourself to it, like a full time job. Kaplan, or any other review course for that matter, will help you structure your study time. [No, I'm not getting any endorsements from Kaplan.]

Good luck!

Sorry I wasn't clearer. The first half was in depth and at a slower pace. After the first (then) eight weeks, the material was reviewed a second time, and now at a faster clip. It had nothing to do with the group review. It all might have changed since then. I would strongly suggest that you go to the source and ask them directly.

Good luck,

Can't decide KAPLAN 7 week or 14 week course
Hey, all I actually was in a similar boat not too long ago. I essentially studied on my own for a super long time and got to a certain score by myself. Still not passing however. So I went back and forth between taking the online, live 7, or live 14 week class. I ended up taking the 14 week. And def happy I did so. Personally, the 7 week course pace of having a class from 8 to 5 everyday would have worn me down. I just made some videos on youtube, detailing how each teacher is that I've had so far.

if you wanna check it out type in: Kaplan 14 Week Live Course NYC 2018 | USMLE Step 1 | Review of Anatomy Portion.

Remember its a marathon not a race! I wise you all the best of luck.
