It depends on which level the lesion is.
Pick up a Neuro Anatomy Atlas and take a look at the Spinal Tracts. Some fibers cross over to the other side in the Medulla or white commissure. So for example if u have a stroke in the brain involving the Anterior Cerebral Artery(motor and Sensory),, the Lateral Corticospinal descends ipsilaterally till it gets to the Medula where it crosses over to the other side so logically motor and sensation deficit will be on the opposite side
