Hello Anyone,

I would like to request guidance regarding my non renewal of contract. I had matched in PGY-1 FP at a community Hospital. Initial six months I had difficulty in transitioning to US system and my contract was not renewed in semi annual discussion of GME. Last 6 months I worked very hard and tried to get few good letters of recommendation before I leave the program.

My question is SINCE I GOT CREDIT FOR ABOUT 11 MONTHS. Is it possible to REPEAT PGY-1 in the same branch as I have already got credit. SInce 2 years I have been trying to get back into residency. I have applied though ERAS this year. I got few interviews this year for FM PGY-1. But I was not sure if the programs will continue to consider me for PGY-1after my interview as I had already credit for PGY-1 . Are there any GME restrictions on this credit?

Kindly let any guidance regarding this matter will be highly appreciated.

Yes. You will find a good deal of chatter of lack of funding, not fully funded, etc.... Truth is there are numerous folks that have done multiple PGY1 & 2 years before finally getting to go straight through a single residency.... often starting over as PGY1 again.

It will be institution/residency dependent. Thus, if they give you an interview for a PGY1 starting FP position, while knowing you have completed a PGY1 year; they are still interested....
