I was wondering if some of the attendings on here would be willing to answer some questions usually surveyed in the annual Medscape reports. I left out a few questions but these seemed like good ones to ask. Thanks.

1. Did your income increase, decrease or stay the same over the past year?
2. Are you satisfied with your current income?
3. In what geographical area do you practice?
4. Are you employed or self-employed?
5. In what practice setting do you work?
6. If you had to do it all over again, would you a). choose medicine as a career?
b). choose the same specialty?
c). choose the same practice setting?

7. Have you started offering new ancillary services?
8. How many hours do you spend seeing patients per week?
9. How many patient do you see per week?
10. How much time do you spend with each patient?
11. How many hours do you spend on paperwork per week?
12. What is the most rewarding part of your job: (pick1) a) Being very good at what I do and finding answers.
b) Gratitude / relationship with patients
c) making good money at a job I like
d) knowing I am making the world a better place
e) being proud of being a doctor
f) nothing

Why did it significantly decreased? What happened?
as Taus said, significant reimbursement cuts. Also, my no-show/late cancellation rate is much higher. It used to be only the Medicaid patients that did this. Now it is a lot of private health insurance patients. I suspect because copays are almost double what they were a year ago. Every doctor in a specialty is seeing lower volume in my area. Primary care is still busy, but their take home pay has always been less to start.
