Hi all,
I'm a 4th year medical student from a caribbean med school. I have a strong interest in PM&R and am currently scheduled for and completing electives in PM&R related fields (orthopedic surgery, neurology, neurosurgery, sports medicine). Unfortunately, I keep running into the same problem of PM&R programs that don't accept IMGs for visiting rotations. I've focused on contacting PM&R rotations at sites that have PM&R residencies (aka green book), but at this point, I'm just looking for any good PM&R rotations sites. Any ideas on good teaching sites (green book or otherwise) would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks!

You can rotate at RIC. they do not discriminate against IMG for rotation or residency. Kessler and Baylor have also taken international graduates.

I am sure there are many more.

i have never heard of the "green book"

Thanks for the reply! I'm have to ask though, what is RIC? Also, I've contacted Baylor and they no longer accept IMGs for visiting elective rotations....bummer.

As for the "green book" classification for rotations: as far as I understand, it refers to a rotation at a facility that has a residency in that rotation field. Apparently, it only really comes into play if you're applying for medical licensure in Texas and maybe two other states.

I just recently graduated for a Caribbean school and matched for PMR. Here are some places I know take IMGs for rotations
1. NRH in DC
2. Marianjoy in Chicago
3. Rush in Chicago
4. VCU
5. NUMC in Long Island
Maybe you can ask your school what non-affiliates other students have rotated at; these are the only ones I know of

Agree with above, I am an IMG that just matched PMR. Did electives at NRH, Marianjoy, and Downstate. It's probably better idea to do a rotation somewhere that is IMG friendly.
