Hello,

I am currently a resident in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R.) I am interested on spreading awareness and attracting medical students who might be interested in my field. I think that many of the osteopathic medical schools are represented on this forum.

I would like to know if there currently is a PM&R interest group at your school.
If so, please identify what program you are from.
If not, do you think there is an interest for one?

Feel free to PM me...

Schools I know/heard that have interest clubs include:
- AZCOM
- NYCOM
- Western U.

I'd really appreciate your input.

Thanks again...

there's one at UMDNJ-SOM as well and I think PCOM may have one by now

I am interested in PM&R and there isn't a club @ UNTHSC that I know exist. There were three student that matched last year. How do you get exposure to this field during third year?

It can be very hard to get academic exposure to PM&R as a 3rd year since most programs offer only 4th year electives. As a 3rd year, I would try to identify local PM&R physicians affiliated with TCOM through your medical education office and set up an elective or just find time to shadow them. You can also look for physiatrists in your area via the AAPM&R Mentorship Database for potential preceptors.

Hey Fozzy,

Wow, How'd you hear that Western had a PM&R club?!

I'm delightfully surprised. 😀

btw, I met you last time in SD. I forgot to mention my sdn sn... not sure if you know who I am here, but I was a RIC extern with Justin in 2007.
