Pocket reference books

For rotations what are the 3 most essentail pocket reference books that you recommend. I have epocrates on my palm.

Maxwells is a definite. I've also heard good things about Tarkopia (sp is wrong, it's a blue pharm book), and Sanford's abx guide; I purchased both books but have been relying entirely on my palm programs for rx.

the blue pharm book is "pharmacopia", I think

"Blue Pharm Book" (which incidentally changes color every year) is Tarason's Pharmacopeia. Its very useful as is the Sanford (ie, "Chinese Letters").

Maxwell's very useful, as are the Tarason's and the Intern Pocketbook Series (ie, they have them for Emergency Med, ICU, CCU, Surgery, etc.) - range from $7.50 to $13.00.

If you want something more substantial, the following "handbooks" are very popular:

Surgery - Mount Reid and the Cleveland Clinic Surgical ICU Handbook

Peds - Harriet Lane, Washington Manual

Medicine - Washington Manual, Care of the Medical Patient

Psychiatry - can't remember what I used

Ob-Gyn - ditto

Also-- Medicine on Call is great when you're (what else?) on call. I didn't like Ferri quite as much, and Wash Manual is rather substantial. My personal fave happens to be the Oxford Handbook of Clinical Medicine but unfortunately it hasn't been updated recently.
