I recently began shadowing a local pod. Nice guy, invited me into his practice, and let me watch him in the OR. I shadowed him twice so far, his partner once and he referred me to two other pods in my area for shadow exeriances.

I'm going to shadow him in the OR and Practice again this week, is this to soon to ask for a lor?

He and I have not created a strong relationship, and have only known each other for a few weeks. In fact I found his name on aacpmas as a mentor, and just called him out of the phonebook.

My gut says wait untill he an I know each other longer, but I am unsure how to gage the right time to ask.

Advise? when do you people request lors?

I would say ask him whenever at this point. You've shown interest in the profession and whether you realize it or not, this Pod has probably already formed an opinion of you and shadowing him again won't likely change what he or she writes in a letter.

I say go for it.

I agree with Kidsfeet, go ahead and ask him. The podiatrist that I shadowed actually brought up writing a LOR for me the first day I shadowed him. He said it once mid day, and then again when the work day was over. So go ahead and bring it up, I bet he'll be more than happy to write you one.

I appreciate the feed back.

I will ask tomorrow then.
