im a format pre-dent now switching to pre-pod out of interest in the field..my questions are

will pod schools accept community college coursework... how favorably do they look on 90 credit hour applicants..what are the average gpa/mcat scores?

thanks for your time

There are numerous threads already on this website about stats. If you do a search you should find your answers. Generally schools dont care about where you took the classes of even if you only have 90 credit hours. I do think though the majority of students do graduate college first. If you do well on the mcat that will combat any low grades you might have in that area.

also..how do they calculate retake classes?

when you fill out the application, it has a section where you list all your courses and grades.

You list all of your retakes as well. To calculate your GPA, the appl has a page that says how much each grade is weighted depending upon your college's grading system.

Yes, most will accept community college work. At least at the schools I applied to, invited to interview and/or accepted. I have some CC credits and I am taking a class this summer at a community college. They should have no problem looking at your application as long as your grades and MCAT scores are good. Check out the different schools websites and you will find some of the avg stats on incoming students. Also, calling the schools you are interested in will be helpful as well.

Also, some of the schools offer a Bachelor's degree after completion of your first year, if you are coming in without a Bachelor's degree completed. At least at Scholl they offer a BS degree after the first year is completed.

I'd have to say they would consider where you took the classes. That could easily be ignored if you are doing well. A friend of mine got into m.d. school with community college credits, though he did finish a BS at a state u.
