Point of insertion for crown prep on typodont

Any good technique to find the point of insertion for crown preps(long axis of the tooth on a typodont,struggling with that and keeping the bur at the same angle when doing axial reduction

Use the adjacent tooth as a reference. Example: If I'm cutting #8, I usually use #9 to identify my first plane and then bring the bur over in that angle to #8. Same thing for 2nd plane.
