During an interview, is the interviewer going to start talking about politics...eg who are you going to vote for in the upcomming election? why? Has that happened to anyone who has interviewed already?

Well, one of my interviewers asked me if there were any issues I was particularly passionate about and said gun-control and, to a lesser-extent, the environment. And then she was like, "oh, so you really like Bush, don't you?" And I chuckled and said "um ... no."

And then looked over and saw a Texas flag on the wall of her office and decided to shut the hell up.

its not uncommon for political topics to surface. you can do one of two things.

1. figure out what your interviewer is and stick with that or
2. say what you believe in and stick to it. don't be flustered if the interviewer doesn't agree with you in some political issues.

Politics came up in an interview I had last year. I tested the waters with a "I don't want to get too political and offend anyone" line to see if I could jump in head first and be passionate about what I believe in. The three interviewers (panel interview) gave me the greenlight and we got into a lively discussion about the faults of the Bush administration. I'd just be careful to make sure you know what you are talking about if it does happen. I had one of the interviewers using follow up questions to every answer I gave to see if I was a bullshi++er.
