You know what this question is asking, and you know why I'm asking it.

Let's figure this out for good.

Are you doing an SMP solely to get into an MD school, because you don't want to become a DO? If so, post your stats, and a few blurbs about why.

I'll start:
Yes, I want to be an MD. I've had the following GPA trends:
Cumulative: 3.03 (straight F's for a few semesters, then all A's and B's post 2004).
Nursing and Nursing School Prereqs: 3.81
Medical School Prereqs and Biochemistry BS from UCLA: 3.46
Post-2004 GPA: 3.61

I've put in 8 years of hard labor on a forced death march through nursing school, medical school prereqs, and now a Biochemistry BS from UCLA, with A's in the big dog physical chemistry and biochemistry classes.

However, my first few years in community college saw a few semesters of straight F's and D's. I missed finals, didn't even attend class, moved between 5 different community colleges, sleeping on friends couches, working odd jobs, partying, etc. I didn't have an idea of what I wanted to do.

I want to go to an MD school because I've given up a lot to be where I am, and I'm not going compromise any of my goals. I've sacrificed normal relationships, friends, starting a family, and a promising profession in nursing to grind it out and go to medical school.

The problem is my cumulative GPA.

I have nothing against DO's. It's just that I have a goal, and giving up as much as I have to be where I am, I'm not compromising that goal. There you go.

My stats are noted over on my MD apps.... I am doing an SMP to have a better shot at the MD schools of my interest not to avoid DO. I want to have all the dice on the table so I can have the best shot possible. MD or DO doesn't matter, it is more a question of the schools themselves and where they are located. My top picks are SLU and most of my state MD schools then DMU,CCOM,PCOM, NYCOM then everything else.
