POLL: More detailed CrackPAT compared with real DAT

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Pattern folding was a beast for me on the real DAT. Some of the questions I swear they stole from an advanced origami book. Oh and there were a few weird hole punching questions too, but not to bad. Just a little different than Crack the DAT PAT. They had 1/4 punches. It's hard to describe.

That being said, I feel like Crack the DAT PAT definitely prepared me for it. But the rest of the Crack the DAT (Reading, Science, Math) was not that great. I bought the biggest package with everything included and I wish I had just bought the PAT.

Good luck!

@Rlow04

hey R low, what do you mean that RC wasnt useful? was it harder on the real test for you? also, the same question goes about QR... what did you find more related to DAT for the QR part and RC?

THanks!

I just thought that RC from Crack the DAT was a little too hard, same for Achiever. I also thought Kaplan's were a bit too easy. I think Topscore has the best RC passages that are right in line with the difficulty of the DAT.

Crack the DAT QR is also too hard, but it's good in that it forces you to get used to the time constraints of the actual DAT. I ran out of time on QR on the DAT and had to guess on 3. Math Destroyer (not the Math section of DAT Destroyer, Math Destroyer is its own book) is perfect. If you go through all 10 QR of Math Destroyer, you'll nail QR on the DAT. That being said, I only made it through 3 Math Destroyers tests and that's probably why I ran out of time. And Khan Academy (free youtube math videos) is really good to fill in your math holes when you can't remember certain things. I used Khan to relearn combinations/permutations, probability, and ellipses - but it would have been good for anything else I needed to relearn.

Good luck!

Chad has some QR videos, I just started them and they are very helpful, especially to become less reliant on a calculator.

I avoid Khan Academy unless I'm desperate and there is nothing else left but him. His voice and repetitive manner of speaking are the like the equivalent of shooting bb's in my eyes.

Lol

so i got a 17 on my first try 🙁 , i didn't even get to pattern folding because i ran out of time...then i got a 17 again once i sped myself up the second time, and finally got my first 20 today. any advice? i've read sama's thread, barron's, etc etc...it's the cube counting, it takes me forever!

I didn't time myself on my first full-length CPAT and I got a 21, it was then I realized that I should time myself because if you have all the time in the world, then you should score well. I plan to time myself for all the next ones though.

Thanks to all who have replied. I'm bumping this in the hopes of getting more responses.

I took my 4th CPAT and got an 18 in an 1hr 15 minutes. I'm not too happy! 1 of the cube counting forms was hard to read and hole punching is difficult for me when they fold it crazy.

LOL don't know why, but this cracked me up. He also is crazy OCD about color coordination. Everything always needs a new color.

Honestly no offense to OP but this thread is kinda useless. Its going to be bias towards peoples strengths and weaknesses. I can already tell you that hole punching and cube counting wont be that bad, pattern folding will be terrible and TFE is gonna be meh.
