I had a bad freshmen year with an extremely low GPA. I transferred back home to a community college where I retook gen bio and gen chem. I ended up staying two years at the cc and received an associates degree in liberal arts and sciences. I graduated with a 3.9 from the cc and then transferred to a 4 year university. At this university I took physics, o chem, and upper level sciences and aced them all. I have gathered over two hundred internship hours at a dental practice and am planning to obtain a couple of more shadowing experiences before graduating. I need to take the DAT in a month (currently studying) and am shooting for at least 20s. I have two community service organizations that I am heavily involved in; for the past 3 years I have also been working 25+ hours a week while maintaining my grades. In my gap year I am taking a dental assisting certification class so that I can stay busy and learn more specifically pertaining to dentistry.

What I am getting at is:
Will my low GPA from my freshman year and the retakes of gen bio and gen chem from the community college stop me from getting into dental school?

I would appreciate responses if anyone has a similar background and has been successful in getting into dental school.
Thank you!

It depends. Some schools strictly have a no pre reqs at CC policy and would only look at your Uni ones.

Depending on what your GPA is and how well you do on your DAT, you could have a pretty good shot.
