Poor last semester

I'm curious what the effects of a dip in GPA in your last semester would be if you had a strong GPA for the first 3.5 years. I have a 3.96, but it is possible I get a 3.3 average this last semester with 9 credits (none of which will count towards my AMCAS GPA) and that will case me to finish with ~ 3.92. I believe he overall GPA is fine when compared to other applicants and a 3.3 with 9 credits is not the worst semester one could have, but I understand that upward and downward trends can affect the way an application is viewed.

Is a B+ to B average in my last semester going to hurt me if I was an A student for 3.5 years?

Haha, dude, you're fine. That's a fantastic GPA. One semester that's a 3.3 is basically negligible compared to the rest of your semesters. Even if it is your last semester. Furthermore, I doubt that 4 hundredths of a grade point at the 3.9 level will make a difference. Enjoy your great GPA, enjoy your last semester of undergrad, and enjoy your gap year (assuming you've not already applied?).

I am curious though, why won't these classes affect your AMCAS GPA? Did you already apply? I'm pretty sure every single class you've ever taken goes into AMCAS.

Its mostly a lack of effort, but the classes are decently hard CS electives

On the AMCAS application, your GPA is presented in a grid year by year, not term by term, so that 3.3 would be moderated by the high GPA you earned earlier in the 4th year.
