Problem: I leave mid-June for a 5-week study abroad trip in Southern Africa (get back mid-july). I'm living out of a jeep, so I won't have any internet connection or any way to contact home.

I know secondaries don't start arriving until early/mid-July, but would be smart to let med schools know that I'm out of contact? I don't want them to hold it against me if my secondaries aren't in right away...

I plan on bringing last year's promps with me and start writing secondary responses.

Am I stressing out too much about this? 😳

Don't worry about it. Many schools recommend that you complete and return the secondaries within a month, but I doubt a slight delay will be a deal breaker...especially since this trip is probably listed on your AMCAS!

Yes. Unfortunately, I don't know what good letting them know you're away will do. It certainly won't magically make your app travel in time. 😉 That having been said, you should have a stateside contact the schools can get ahold of if anything time-sensitive comes up.
