Hi! Can somebody please explain what is porcelain rust? I was reading from dental decks for nbde part 2 where I came across this in the notes. It says "Many porcelains rust at a temperature over 2000 degree fahrenheit."
I searched in the dental materials textbook and even googled the topic but cldn't find anything. Can somebody please explain?
Thanks

Hi! Everybody...I wrote to the dental decks people at comcast about the same query and I got a reply from Dr. Lozier expalining what is porcelain rust. This is what he replied back to me.
"Most porcelains are fired at temperatures between 1300 and 1700 degrees Fahrenheit. If they are fired at over 2000 degrees Fahrenheit there is a loss in color and the glaze appears yellowish or rusted."

I am glad somebody could answer my query. Thanks Dr. Lozier.
