we've been using the EAE mouse model and for a number of reasons need to move into a bigger model. are any of you vet folks familiar with a Porcine MS model? or perhaps another large mammal model?

Hi stoic.

I'm only familiar with the EAE, TMEV, and cuprizone mouse models myself. Not sure how widely used pigs are...I'm actually not aware of any proven large animal models 🙁 Guinea pigs and rats are the largest ones I have heard about with MS models.

Edit: They use nonhuman primates sometimes, but that can be a difficult realm to get into.

indeed. i'd like to avoid that particular storm unless absolutely necessary.

What about these guinea pib MS models? do they also use EAE as an induction agent? We want to look at what role lymphocyte segregation may play in attenuating a response. These kinds of studies aren't practical on mouse model with only 1-2mL in blood volume.
