I just logged onto SDN today and noticed I was awarded a "Trophy: 2 year member".
I think this is an important thing to bring up because there is a ton of negativity on SDN/the internet/in the world in general. Basically, everything is doom and gloom from "socialized medicine" to "salaries plummeting" to "mid-level takeover" to stressing about board scores and specialty selections. Not to mention all the ACTUAL stress from school workload itself and all the stress in our day-to-day lives.
But, I realize today that I've now been on this site for 2 years! When I first signed up, I was just a starry-eyed pre-med . And now, I'm a 2nd year in medical school, much further along in the process. I just have to say how thankful I am for how far I've come (And wow thank heavens I don't ever need to do 1st year of school again).
At the end of the day medicine is a great field with amazing opportunities. Salaries might go down, hell they even might go up. Socialized medicine might happen, it might not (Maybe it would be a GOOD thing??). I have no idea what specialty I'll end up in... But at the end of the day we're all future physicians who are going to make a good living helping people in our communities.
Okay, now fix your posture, go for a walk, get off SDN, and get back to studying!!
