I’m having a bit of a panic moment. When I first started college (several years ago now), I wanted to go to vet school, and started taking a vet school pre-req by correspondence. Half way through, I decided this wasn’t the path for me. Instead of attempting to withdraw from the course, I was an idiot and simply stopped doing the class. I completely forgot about all of this until very recently.

I believe I am supposed to submit transcripts for all universities I ever enrolled in, correct? Taking an F on this course takes my already semi-precarious cGPA from a 3.56 to a 3.49.

I plan to get a record from the school of what my grade was in the class and hope that it is somehow anything other than an F, and then make a GPA repair plan if necessary. Is there absolutely any way that I’m not thinking of that I could get around this? Any sort of technicality that would mean I wouldn’t have to report this grade (such as it being a correspondence class)?

Or any further mitigation suggestions? Thanks!

(To be clear, I have absolutely no interest in attempting to hide this grade from med schools if I’m required to report it…I’m simply trying to see what my options are.)

This is from amcas:
  1. How do I know if AMCAS requires an Official Transcript? One (1) official transcript is required from each U.S., U.S. Territorial, or Canadian post- secondary institution at which you have attempted coursework, regardless of whether credit was earned. This includes but is not limited to:
    • College-level courses attempted while in high school, even if they did not count toward a degree at any college.

    •  Colleges at which you originally attempted a course, even if transfer credit was subsequently accepted by another school.

    •  Colleges where you registered but did not earn any credit (e.g., incompletes, withdrawals, failures, audits, etc.).

    •  Courses that did not count toward a degree, regardless of whether credit was earned or transferred.

    •  Extension programs through which you attempted courses, if a separate transcript is provided by the Extension Division.

    • Correspondence and home study programs.

    •  Military education.

    •  American colleges overseas.

    •  U.S., U.S. Territorial, and Canadian medical schools.

Thanks for the info. Though I’m admittedly facepalming myself for not looking that part up on AMCAS.

I guess I'll be looking into expanding my GPA repair plan.

After a strange evening of being really stressed about this random class, I found an answer, and am posting for reference of anyone who may find this thread one day in a similar situation involving a lack of foresight from their past self:

I finally pinned down which school I took this course with, turns out for some courses (including mine), if you don’t take the final exam, they automatically drop you from the course and no grade goes on your transcript. I assume other schools may be the same.

I assume I still have something on a transcript with them, but whatever it is isn't an actual grade, and is much preferable to an F being factored into my GPA.

</end freakout>

Yeah, that is literally the stuff of nightmares. Congratulations that it all worked out.

No time to read the OP right now, but if you can get an incomplete instead of an F, that would probably be better. If you are on financial aid, you would want to check with that office before considering this though.
