Hello guys, i am studying from EK materials to prepare for my MCAT, i came across some explanations in EK bio 2 pages 106 and 108 that didn't make sense to me, can anybody clarify it please?

1. "Evaporation is an exothermic process and thus has a cooling effect on the body", i thought evaporation was an endothermic process, in which molecules have to absorb heat to change their physical nature.

2. "Inspiration occurs when the medulla oblongata of the midbrain signals the diaphragm to contract", i believe that the medulla oblongata is a part of the hindbrain, not the midbrain.

any clarification will help. Thank you.

You are correct in both.
1) Evaporation is endothermic because the water molecules in the body absorbs heat to leave the body. Though sometimes, people view the human body as the system, and only see that release of heat, they think its exothermic.
2) Yes the medulla oblongata is from the hindbrain sector, not the midbrain.
