Here is the list of new med schools:

One thing you guys are forgetting is that the number of residency slots is CAPPED by the federal government and CMS has declared they arent paying for any new slots.

So these 30+ new med schools that are opening up (both MD and DO) will be competing for the same pool of residency slots that exists now.

A school cant unilaterally decide to open new residency slots unless they want to pony up the cash to do it. CMS isnt going to pay for it, and schools arent keen on paying for their own residency programs.

So this spells big time disaster for FMGs and possibly for hte lower tier MD and DO graduates.

I am hoping that even with the emphasis being on southern applicants that the school will be receptive of military vets who intend on becoming military docs [as I am]... I want to get back down south, I have always entertained the idea of settling down there...

By the way, how's school coming man [Old Grunt]?!! How is life right now, what do they have you studying?

Bump, with some info
3/4 down the page It states the schools will open in 2009 and will be affiliated with Forrest county general hospital (500+ beds).
