so i know that schools can't hand out acceptances until Dec 1, but is it possible for them to decline you after an interview before Dec 1?

Of course. An early interview does not guarantee an acceptance.

Yes, but it depends on the school; some schools wait until december 1st to tell those that have interviewed their status. At UCSF, they mentioned that you can be denied before Dec. 1st.
