I am new to this forum and must say thanks to all, there are many great threads that give a lot of info.
I already have more than the required 60 credits for an AA but do not have all the pre reqs done for for Pharm school so my question is... If I were to take extra math courses(easier ones like College Math, Math for Liberal Arts etc) would those still count for my Math/Science core gpa? Or do they only consider the specific pre req classes like Calc in the GPA?

They'll only consider Calculus and higher, as well as Stats for PharmCAS.

Besides, adcoms will probably wonder why you're taking all those math classes when you've already taken calculus.

So, they don't consider pre-calculus course completion?

i think the OP meant do those math courses get calculated into the Math GPA and the ansswer is yes but they don't substitute for the prereqs meaning if shcools require Calculuus you have to take Calculus.

Honestly, many students do this...they take easy science classes to boost their GPA if they are on the borderline but its true that adcomms are aware of students doing this.

you should only do this if you don't meet the minimum cut-off GPA but even then their are other factors such as prereq GPAs that shcools look at.

Yes thanks Cystapharm,
Thats what I was talking about. My overall GPA is only 3.3 with my math/ science at 3.25 which from everything I have read on here is just not competitive at my schools. I had gone to school previously for Business so my focus has completely changed since I decided I wanted to be a Pharmacist. So my goal now is to raise both to at least 3.5 to at least have a shot at getting into School. I know that you cant replace the pre reqs I just wanted to know if I could take extra classes in Math/Science as well as general electives in addition to the specific pre reqs to raise both GPA.

So, if I've taken Precalculus, Statistics, Calc I and Calc II Pharmcas will use all 4 classes to calculate my math GPA?
I would hope they consider Precalculus, and it wouldn't make sense if they didn't because it is a requirement for two schools that I plan on applying to.

Yes they do use all the classes. I took Precalc at a college in high school and that grade brought my Math GPA down a lot just because I only had two math classes.
