my plan is to take chem 1 & chem 2 during the summer, and fall: bio, physics, org-chem, and spring: bio, physics, advanced chem

so, similar to what i'd be doing at a formal post-bac program. one of the formal programs i've been looking at says students can skip the glide year by applying in the spring. is this possible to do in an informal post-bacc program?
and is my tentative schedule INSANE? (i dont understand why some posters say doing this in an informal program is not possible, when ppl end up doing the same thing in a formal program)

Can't apply until you take the MCAT.
Can't take the MCAT until you've learned the material.

People generally avoid a gap/glide year if they complete the prereqs and the MCAT during their junior year, or if they do a formal program that has linkage.

I think you would benefit from some general premed advising, which you can get by reading web pages or books or by seeing a premed adviser.

The MSAR is probably a great place to start. It explains the application process. You can skip over the parts that tell you what to do as a freshman, but you should pay attention to the parts that explain the application year and what schools consider when they review applications. You can also then see whether your GPA is competitive or not.

Another good book is Iserson's. SDN published one as well.

Best of luck to you.

as midlife said - its not doable cos of the MCAT, and the lack of prep you'd have for it
