So I tried searching, but I am not sure what search terms to use. So I got LORs, updated my LOR writers weekly(ish) about my application cycle and when I got accepted at the end of September, I made them some guantis (an italian cookie that is an italian staple) and hand wrote a thank you note which I delivered with the cookies. I basically said, "forever grateful, anything you need don't hesitate to ask."

Well, it is now february. Is it proper to keep in touch with my LOR writers? Update them with anything? How often? How much? What is the correct thing to do? I just don't want to run into them later or maybe need something later and have them be all, "eff you dude, you dropped me after you got what you want." What would be the proper thing. Just let it be? Anyone have any ideas? Both of my LOR writers have spouses that teach at the school I am attending so, i don't know if that changes anything.

I dunno mang, I think it's all up to you and how close your relationship is with them.

Personally, I just sent them all an email saying, thank you very much, you helped me get into medical school, you inspired me to pursue my dreams, I appreciate it.

They sent me back saying good job, and one of them asked me to inspire others and give back to my undergrad university when I could (he's a research professor at said school.) Other than that, I doubt there's anything else you can do. You wouldn't want it to seem like you bribed them by giving them lots of gifts, etc.

I'm sure if you ran into them later, they'd just be like oh hows medical school going? and you can be like WHAT THE FFF DID I GET MYSELF INTO.

tl;dr you're overthinking it, just let it ride.

yeah I know I am probably overthinking it. They just rarely cross my mind and I haven't really done anything or talked to them since october. cool.

You already updated them numerous times and thanked them post-acceptance so you're fine, they will not think you just used them. It wouldn't hurt, however, to send them an occasional update here and there, if for no other reason than to keep in touch.
