Hi,

I was wondering if there's anything that I should be doing now that I've been accepted? I only applied one place, so I don't have any other schools to contact now that I've accepted my acceptance. But, I'm just worried about whether there are people at the program I should be contacting while I'm waiting for more information about funding or enrollment and stuff like that.

I really don't want to bother the professors or grad students that I met during interviews uneccessarily if there isn't anything, so I would certainly appreciate any thoughts or suggestions. Its a PsyD program with no specific mentor or lab assignment, if that makes a difference.

I don't know the answer to your question since I am in the same boat as you, except with a PhD program. I just have questions about post-acceptance steps as well 🙂

When should I expect to hear from the school about what exactly my (RA or TA) position will be? When should I expect more concrete details re: funding? I know they guaranteed at least $12,000 with first years making an average of $15,000, but I don't know what I'll be getting. I also am wondering when I should hear about signing up for classes, what my expected class schedule will be, etc.

Thanks for any help!

From what I can remember (it's been a few years...), I heard specific details about my funding sometime around mid-summer, although I didn't know my specific TA assignment until a few weeks before classes started.

Registration for classes during my first year occured probably a month before things kicked off. I'd advise checking out the program's grad student handbook if one is available online so that you'll know which classes you need to take, and can start planning accordingly. Some programs have classes explicitly scheduled out for your entire grad school career, while others (like mine) just tell you what needs to be taken and by when, and then leaves the specifics of scheduling up to the student.

As for steps to take, I'm in a mentor-model program, so this advice may not apply to other models. I remained in contact with my professor throughout the summer, but it was for my own edification rather than being required by the program. So long as you've officially accepted and get them your signed acceptance letter once it arrives (assuming they send you one), they should stay on top of letting you know what you need to do and when you need to do it.
