I've been searching the forums for a while, as well as university websites and any other source I could find, but I've been left more confused than anything else.

I am interested in applying to a pharmacy school, but I am an undergraduate senior come Fall 2006. It's hard for me to tell the difference on the sites between the Post-BS programs and other programs. If maybe someone with knowledge in this area could help me? I'm just at a loss as to which schools allow getting Pharm D after getting a BS and how to go about it. It seems the schools gear all their information to incoming high school students and undergraduate sophomores.

I'm sorry this isn't more specific, but I think I need general guidance before getting any more in depth.

Thanks, and sorry if I missed a post related to this.

~frown~.... I do believe just about all schools "allows post BS PharmD". Actually, alot of schools now requires you to have a bachelor degree by the time you enter pharmacy school. Only a few schools offers the "fast track" early admission/2 years undergraduate/then pharmacy schooling program.

Maybe you can check out pharmcas.org for more detail for the different pharmacy school requirements, and get a better idea of the "minimum requirement" needed to apply to those schools. And again, those are minimum requirements, so alot of the applicants have much more experience / classes taken, and having a BS would help you get into pharmacy school, and definitively not prevent you from getting in.

I'm not sure if you might be confusing what you might have read about pharmacists who have received their BS in Pharmacy going on later to receive a PharmD. This was a common occurrence until recently. You can no longer receive a BS in pharmacy in the US. All pharmacy schools will take you if you have a BS in an undergraduate field of study however, but some tend to want this more than others.

Does that help?
