Is there anyone out there who's done a post bac and had a puppy at the same time? I know post bacs are intense and puppies are time consuming. Is it possible to have both?

Lol. It's funny that you should ask.

I'm also thinking about getting a pet, as well. However, I'm moving back home, after I graduate, and doing my post-bac there. Luckily, my parents are willing to help take care of the dog.

Don't do it. Puppies are totally sweet, but they require a ton of time. You'll be gone at least from 9 - 5 most days of the week, since you have to complete labs for every course. Also, if you plan on returning home or going anywhere during your breaks, that puppy is a pricey liability.

Puppies need lots of attention and don't do well when they are left home alone for long periods of time. That's when you'll end up coming home to wet floors and chewed furniture.

Maybe it's just me but I feel horrible for leaving my dog home for any period of time. If I can bring him, I do and if I can't then I make the trip as short as possible. We live on a farm so our dogs get lots of running around time but I still feel bad for leaving them.
