I know this isn't the post-bac forum but I posted there this morning and didn't get a response and since I know there are many people in this forum I figured someone might know something!

My SO just got a terrific job offer in DC so we will be moving down there come summer. I want to pursue a post-bac but I've heard bad things about Georgetown on this forum. I was looking at American but can't find too much information on it.

I am a "career changer" so I don't need a program to boost my science GPA or anything. I just need a program where I can get a science GPA!

Does anyone know anything about post-bacs in DC? Any help would be much appreciated!!

I did my post-bac at American, this was 5-6 years ago, there were a fair number of "career changers" in the program when I was there. The program director I had has since retired, but he was awesome. I haven't heard anything about his replacement. I'd suggest contacting the new advisor for updated info.

The program was good, everyone was very supportive and I got everything I needed out of it. There are docs in the area that will let you shadow them, there are PhD's on campus that will let you work on their research projects and if you look hard enough, you might be able to find something at the NIH.

It was a nice place to live (expensive, but that's just DC).

I dunno what else to tell you. If you have specific questions, feel free to PM me.

edit: I just looked at the post-bac page for AU. It looks like Dr. Arneson is running the program now. Had her for cell bio, she's good and should be able to help you out if you contact her.
