I have a 2.3 overall and science GPA. Really messed up my first few years. Past 40-50 credits have maintained a 3.4 with upward trend especially in science courses. AACOMAS calculates my GPA at 2.8 overall and 3.2 science. This is obviously due to retakes.

Does anyone know a post-bac that accepts retakes?

Or would I be better off going back and retaking the non-science courses I did poorly in my first few years?

Thanks

DU

It doesn't matter where you take the additional post-baccs courses long as it is somewhere at a 4 year university. Climbing from several yrs of bad grades is extremely hard and something that I had to go through also. Most admissions want to see a solid 2 years of an upward trend (60+ credits) to see that it is a true change.

You might also think about taking this opportunity to try out the MCAT. Personal statement and MCAT will help evaluate yourself about the path you want to take.

If you think you are ready to take on the rigors of a SMP, I have seen many hopefuls with low GPA join the program at Mississippi College SMP. Check out the long post about the school and call up Dr. Baldwin about your position. He will give you a straight answer if you would qualify or not.

Have you already graduated?

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I am extremely thankful.

I graduate this coming spring and will be taking the MCAT April of 2013.

I have looked into the Mississippi College SMP. I also emailed Dr. Baldwin. He told me to go ahead and apply. It seems to me that the MC SMP is almost directed towards those of us that have a really low GPA. I decided I will apply there and if I get in, I will bust my butt to do well. If I have anything going for me it is my upward trend and my years of work as a paramedic.

Thanks again,

DU
