I'm a Political Science degree transfer student at a UC. I did a couple lower division core science courses just to test myself out at my CC - some of them should fit in for the pre-reqs. Now, should I integrate the pre-reqs if I can into my two years at the UC? Or should I just focus on my Poli Sci degree and take a post-bacc program?

Do adcoms give preference to people who did post-bacc programs than people who just completed the pre-reqs?

My financial aid won't be available once I'm done with my undergrad and if I did a post-bacc I'd have to pay everything out of pocket, so I'm worried. I come from extremely low-income (family income under 20k/year) roots.

Oh, and how had would it be to attempt taking all the pre-req courses while working on a non-science major?

If you haven't graduated and you can get the courses in, there is no reason to do a post-bac. Post-bac's are for people returning to school having decided to pursue medicine after graduating, and for boosting a low GPA. Take all the pre-reqs while completing your degree, extending it a semester or two if necessary, and you won't need a post-bac. Talk to your university's pre-med advisers to see what they think, since if your university has a pre-med committee, you will need a letter of recommendation from them or you will have a red flag in your application.

This is, of course, assuming you have a competitive GPA. Good luck!
