Does anyone know of any programs in Illinois that are for NON-minority students and for those who have already completed pre-dental coursework? I'm debating doing a Post-Bacc or Masters degree...
I'll be graduating this semester and my GPA is a 3.2, sGPA: 2.8. I haven't taken the DAT yet, but I have over 100 hours of dental shadowing experience, work as a Dental assistant, leadership roles in EC, Tons of volunteer hours, but I still feel as though my raw stats are low as far as GPA goes. Can anyone give me some advice??

I had a 3.2 ogpa and 2.9 sgpa. Did a non thesis masters in bio at IIT (30 credit hrs in 1.5 yrs) and finished with a 3.9. Got interviews at UIC, Michigan, and siu. Going to Michigan.

I highly suggest the program, but I warn you it's difficult. It worked for me and has worked for others.

Thanks for the reply! Did your master's GPA get averaged with your undergrad GPA? Also, did you do the Masters of Science in Biology? Or what was the official title? (Did you do any specialization in cell bio or anything?)

The masters gpa gets reported separately to dental schools and also gets reported cumulatively with undergrad gpa. So schools can see the overall gpa and also how well you did in the program itself.

I did the PSM (professional science masters, requires less credits to graduate and is cheaper than the master of science). You take all the same science classes except the master of science students take labs whereas PSM students take business and technical communication courses.

You have to specialize. I did mine in microbiology. My title is a Master of Biology with a concentration in Microbiology. If I did the master of science program I would be a Master of Science in Biology with a concentration in Microbiology.
