Hey SDN,

I'm new to this great site, as I've been trying to hunt down the best program to enhance my record next year.

My stats are:
Ranked Liberal Arts College
Double Major- Biology and Health Policy
Cum GPA - 3.7
Sci GPA - 3.3

No GREs or MCATs yet...was planning on taking the MCAT in July and I'm not sure how long it will take me to prep to get a competitive GRE score (right now I'm scoring pretty average...).

Since I am not eligible for a regular post bac because most of the med prereqs have been completed, I'm worried about where would be a realisitc place to send my application to next year as I don't know if my stats are competitive enough for a good enhancement program on the East Coast.

Aside from Harvard extension, does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!!!

Have a look at UPenn's SSP program

But do you need it with a 3.7 cGPA? Providing you do decent on the MCAT (31+) it will balance off your lowish sGPA

I've checked out UPenns SS but seems as though they are looking for MCATs and better credentials due to the competition in the program. I'm going to give it a shot anyways though...Thanks for the input!

1. forget the GRE
2. do really, really well on the MCAT before app season starts - July is too late with a low science GPA. You won't get your score until late August, and that's late.
3. apply to med school early & broadly. June 1 (May 1 in Texas).
4. towards October, you'll know if you should be looking at academic enhancer programs, such as SMPs. Apply to them if so.

Best of luck to you.

Midlife said it best.

Your stats are more than sufficient for Penn - trust me on that one. Not sure they require the MCAT for the SSP but dont know for a fact.
