Here is my situation in short: I was a political science and history major as an undergrad but I also took a few pre-med classes at the time just to see what pre-med was all about. I did horribly in those classes (a few C's and a D as well). However, my major GPA is really high, and I graduated from undergrad with a 3.24.

After graduating, I enrolled into a basic post-bac program in which I took the four basic pre-med pre-requisites. I retook some of the pre-med classes I took as an undergrad and then completed the other pre-reqs. As of now, I have gen chem, orgo, bio, and physics (plus respective labs) all under my belt.

Now, the problem is that despite my good performance in the post-bac, the science courses from undergrad bring my science GPA down to a 2.9 something. I have been searching for post-bacs with advanced science courses and I have noticed that some of them do not necessarily require an MCAT score. Now, my question is...will it be harder for me to gain acceptance into these non-MCAT-requiring programs if I had not taken the MCAT before? Do they favor those who have taken the MCAT over those who haven't?

You might want to check with each individual program but Penn Post bac does not want you to take your MCAT. They prefer that you take it at the end of their program. Don't forget that medical schools look at how many times you have taken it and tend to average them out.
