Post-doc listings

Does anyone know if post-doc listings get removed when the position is filled? I ask because I read a listing that I would like to apply for (although I am not quite there yet) that has been on a website for a while.

Also, when do post research post-docs in child psychology (clinical and developmental) come out?

Some job postings are *required* to be posted for a certain number of days (the VA), while others get posted to meet the requirements of an institution (a lot of universities)....but are really just a formality because they have someone in mind already. I'd say most are posted until enough candidates are identified. Sometimes a follow-up e-mail will go out saying the position was filled and/or not open anymore if the job is getting a lot of submissions. I'd think anything posted within the last 2-3 months is fair game.
