I know this is common but I feel terrible about how my exam went. I've read other threads of people feeling terrible about it and doing very well but I've counted so many wrong (know of 28 wrong for sure many of which are incredibly dumb mistakes on incredibly easy questions) already that I am pretty sure I'll be very far from my NBME and UWSA scores... Just wanted to vent....

maybe this will cheer you up

Did you count that many wrong as well?
What frightens me is that many I counted wrong were not even flagged...
Thanks Knuckles for the cheer up video.

So far I have counted 31. I think I marked a total of 75 Questions on the exam. The 31 includes questions that I had not marked.

i think you guys are going to be fine. even if you were onyl sure of about 50% of the test. and you had these careless mistakes + flagged. which i am sure i will also.

if you say you got about half of the other 50% right that you weren't sure about. that's a 75%. that's a pretty good score if the national mean is around 68 - 70% for that test.

I hope you are right. I doubt that the national average is a 68-70 as this seems closer to what I have heard the passing score to be. Am I wrong on that?

there's another thread with some of SDN's finest mathematicians breaking it down.

i think a passing score is 57- 60%.

I would drive myself crazy if I remembered my exam questions. I have actually been actively trying to block any memories of the test for the past week, especially when I woke up at 6 am on the day after my test to look up an answer to a question in panic-- I got it wrong. That's when I decided to just block it all out. There's no point thinking about it. What's done is done.

Good luck to everyone waiting on scores... 😀

Suppression. That's very mature of you.

lolol

i didnt actively do this, so did I repress it? I just cant remember anything on my test except 3 questions: one that had 2 right answers, one that had no right answers and one that was so off the wall unrelated to medicine i have no idea how it got in the test at all. Other than that I can only remember generalities such as my test being very light on biochem and pharm and feeling lucky about that.

I also took the exam a few days ago and can commiserate...it didn't help that I was so nervous I felt like I couldn't think straight for the entire first section of the exam and had some trouble finishing a few sections, which I never had a problem with on the practice tests. I've been wondering if I'm completely screwed and am seriously concerned about the score I will receive. Even if I didn't fail, isn't barely passing just as bad in terms of applying for residencies?

I scored a 220 two weeks before the exam (free practice exam translated score) and 231 one week before (NBME 7 translated score); however, I almost felt like I knew less by the time I took the exam than I did the week before even though I was studying every day (is that even possible??). I also had a lot of trouble sleeping during that week due to test anxiety, which I'm sure didn't help my performance.

Is there anything that can be done now except to wait for my scores?? Like, it's not possible (or advisable) to cancel scores now, is it?

Hey, I felt absolutely awful after taking Step 1. I could think of so many questions that I missed. My friend and study partner for the Steps felt the same way afterward.

The result: he got a 266, I got a 267. The consensus among those who did really well is that those who did really well tend to feel awful afterwards.

that just irritates me.. i walked away feeling like i did well and most of my classmates are complaining about how terrible they did.. and theyre prob gonna end up with higher scores.

a third year tutor I was working with prior to the exam said he walked out, ready to sign up to take the test one more time...turns out he got a 257. This is off of 3 hours of sleep the night prior.

It is just because you're thinking about the questions you got wrong, whereas someone who isn't at that level doesn't know they got the questions wrong. That sorta comes out of the whole UW thing where people don't pay attention to the other answer choices if they got the answer right.
